Well, that holds true most places. My son has a friend who played at a mid level California JC. There was one kid who worked very hard, did a lot of extra work on his own. He worked with plyo care balls, did the Wolforth stuff, worked with speed chains and ropes ect. He got flak from his teammates about it, doing his weird work, they started calling him "big time" because they thought he thought he was a big shot, even though he did not. He ended up going to USD. Almost all of the kids that used to jokingly give him crap were done after two years.
People that mock others for working hard are strange to me.
When my son showed up at college this year with a mini trampoline a kid kind of wrinkled up his nose when he said it was for his throwing program. Being closed minded limits more people than anything else.
