TheWatch,

Your C-change grip is good food for discussion--there is a school of thought that says every grip, except the splitter/forkball of course, should have the thumb and middle finger exactly splitting the baseball in two equal halves.

My kid can't do that with a C-change grip, so he throws a split-finger FB for his changeup pitch. Also, the C-change is typically thrown with almost screwball-like pronation, right? That also seems more difficult than the splitter.

Do you have the command that you want with your C-change?

I had better command in the past. I haven't focused on my change-up in a while. Also, I'm not 100% that my picture is my correct grip that I use. I took the picture more recently and I had sort of dropped the change-up while I focused on perfecting my sinker and curve.

From what my catchers have told me, I get a bit of screwball-type movement when I throw it. Instead of the usual down-and-in on the same handed batter, I get the screwball-type action (out then down-and-in). I usually pronate quite a bit and I have to drop my arm angle a little bit.

In short, I usually have command with my c-change but recently I don't because I haven't thrown it that much. It takes practice to master it and patience with the pronation. You might have to experiment by dropping your arm angle slightly.

I'm going to take a guess that when you say you "have" those pitches that you mean you know how to throw them and can occasionally locate them. I think you would do yourself a big favor by working on command of your fastball and change-up.

Ditto.

Stick with the FB and change-up. Pick up a cutter or sinker if you feel like it.

Doesn't mean that the ball won't break, it just won't appear to break as much compared to pitching from a further distance.

My only advice on the changeup is to find a grip that's comfortable and one that will ensure 10 mph difference without a change in arm speed. Just move the ball around to get a somewhat comfy grip and let her rip!
